The last few years I've been working colaberatively on warhammer rules for representing human factions in the Southlands (equivilent of real world Africa) and of late I've been assembling models for the second of these, loosely based on the Zulu Kingdom. I'd really like to get some paint on these and this challange seems a golden opportunity.
This is the army of the Mfecane, that uses aggressive infantry boosted by magical augments to beat back the encroachments of savage orcs and mutated creatures of the dark jungle to keep their kingdom safe.
As I paint units I will be including a little bit about how they function on the table and getting some playtesting done, so readers can hopefully get an idea of how the are on the table top.
You might be interested to hear that the most recent art commission discussions have been around fleshing out the southern continent, centring around conflicts between Lizardmen and a proxy-Kushite kingdom. As well as various tribal kingdoms and a coastal power.
Facinating. My previous army in this project (only partially painted) were renaissance era Ethiopians/Abyssinians, so very interested to see where that goes.
Due to short attention span, assembled 6 more zulus then got stuck into a kitbash/ scratch build of a unit of Bulgus for the aforemention Ethiopian themed army. Some Zulu characters took a 'supporting' role while that stage dried.
