How It Works
So you want to take part? Fantastic. Follow the steps to get connected and read the quick guide below.

Join Middlehammer
Join the Middlehammer page on Facebook. This is where you’ll make submissions each month. This is the only required step. Alternatively you can send us your photos, for us to add on FB.

Join the Forum
Sign up to the forum on this website to blog about your project and interact with your fellow participants.

Send us an Email
Our mailing list is the easiest way to stay up to date with all the latest news via our newsletter.

Follow Us
Our social media presence is small, but growing. You can currently follow us on Instagram and reach us on Discord. Links on the Contact page.

Tell Your Friends
This is a small community and word of mouth is key. If you like what we’re doing, tell people about it and invite them to get involved.

Paint Your Army
This is the big one. It’s why this site exists and why all the hard work will be worth it in the end. So paint you stuff and have fun.
Tell Your Own Tale
Welcome to A Middlehammer Tale
Over the next 6 months you will be offered a narrative army building experience. Each month a new Chapter of the Tale will unfold, complete with unique art and stories.
Signing Up
To sign up all you need to do is post a picture of the models you intend to paint that month on the group post on Middlehammer over on Facebook and tell us how they fit that Chapter’s theme. Chapters start on the 1st of each month from May to October. Entries for each Chapter must be made by the 15th of that month. You can enter as many or as few Chapters as you like.
Submitting Entries
A thread for final submissions will open a week before the end of the month. Put a photo of your finished models in that thread as your final submission. We will organise web pages by faction, each containing photos of the finished units, as well as select some photos to show off on Instagram.
Time to Prepare
This is a no-stress project and we’re here to help you have fun. As such, we believe in giving you time to prepare. Themes are announced a month in advance. Chapter One, beginning May 1st, was announced April 1st. Chapter Two, beginning June 1st, will have it’s theme revealed May 1st…and so on.

I missed the start!
Don’t worry. You can join in at any point, though if you missed a couple of chapters you might be better off adding units to an existing army and starting your new army when we (hopefully) do this again next year. Likewise, if a whole 6 months seems like too much of a commitment you can pick and choose which Chapters you want to be involved in. Regardless, you can always stick around to enjoy other people’s projects and our original artworks.
